Protecting your Crappie Jigs

Protecting your Crappie Jigs

You have purchased your first set of Mississippi Jig Company's crappie jigs. So how do you keep your jigs in tip top shape?

For starters, I would get a high quality box to store your jigs in. My recommendation is to purchase of a Gamakatsu G-box. The box is designed to prevent the crushing of your jigs, movement during transport, and the blue color gives some sun protection.

After fishing with your jigs, it is important to let the jigs fully dry out. Putting the jig back into the box could result in mildewing or molding. This might ruin that one jig or multiple. You can also put a small fan on them if your whole box gets wet or if you want to speed the process.

Lastly, try and store all jigs out of direct sunlight. If fishing from a boat, try to keep the jig box in a compartment. Sunlight can cause jigs to fade over time. This is no different for plastic, fabric, or paint. If you ride around with your poles in the back of the truck for months, expect things to weather.

If your jigs get ruined, don't panic! We can get you fixed up with more!
