This is an entry level crash course for all things wade-fishing. The first step is to secure a few items. You can spend as much money as you want or as little to get by.
Waders are very important since the water is around 60 degrees Fahrenheit. Although Chene and Sitka make wonderful waders, first time guys can get by with a set from Amazon.
The next thing to get is a quality pole. DO NOT try to pinch pennies here. I would recommend using a B&M pole. Our preferred length is 10 feet to 11 feet in length. Too short of a pole would result in potentially spooking fish off of structurer. Two great rods are the Sams Super Sensitive or the Steve Dana Tree Thumper. However, there are other great rod companies if you prefer a different brand.
